Prime Minister’s Office Open Race Competition Begins


Pradhan Senapati Open Race organized on the occasion of Army Day has started here today. Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma inaugurated the tournament, which started from the playground at Military Headquarters, Jangi Adda.

After crossing the race distance established for various categories in the competition, it will end at the same place. The Army has been holding this competition since 2072 on the occasion of the Foundation Day. Chief of Army Staff Sharma is participating in the five km walkathon organized as part of the competition.

The walkathon is attended by senior army officers as well as people from various professions in the society. As part of the competition, the 42 km distance marathon will start from Jangi Adda and will reach the military headquarters via Tripureshwar, Maitighar, Koteshwar, Thimi, Sallaghari, Suryavinayak, Bhaktapur, Pepsicola, Gaushala, Chabahil, Maharajganj, Panipokhari, Nagpokhari, Bhadrakali.

In the competition, the first, second and third place winners will be awarded Rs three lakh, two lakh and one lakh cash respectively. Three hundred runners are participating in the competition. As part of the competition, cash prizes and certificates of Rs 75,000, 50,000 and 35,000 will be awarded to the first, second and third place female and male runners in the 21 km half marathon competition. Seven hundred and fifty runners are participating in the competition.

According to the army, the first, second and third place winners in the 10 km race, including male and female students studying in army colleges, will be awarded Rs 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 respectively. Five hundred runners are participating in the competition. This time, the Nepali Army is celebrating its 260th foundation day. Army has been celebrating Army Day every year on Mahashivratri.
