President Running Shield started in Butwal

The 4th President’s Running Shield competition 2079 has started in Butwal. Khelraj Pandey, chief of Butwal sub-metropolitan city, inaugurated the tournament on Thursday at the FIFA Technical Center in Devi Nagar.

Inaugurating the competition, the city chief Pandey said that it will be done to produce national and international players from Butwal through sports.

He said that for the production of players, it should start from the school level and said that Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City is always ready to cooperate for the production of players at the school level.

He said that Butwal has been established as a historical, industrial and touristic city and said that it is necessary to establish it at the national and international level through sports. He said that football, lawn tennis, badminton and other national level competitions are organized in Butwal and he urged the people in the sports field to organize other competitions in the future.

In the program, Hari Chhetri of the District Sports Development Committee said that he is committed to making the district’s sports level.

Competition coordinator Hari Prasad Shrestha informed that 38 students from 16 community schools and 22 from institutional schools participated in the competition.

He said that 1,091 students from 494 teams are participating in field high jump, long jump, triple jump, javeling throw, shot put, relay race, volleyball, kabaddi, taekwondo and other games during the competition.

Prem Bahadur Basnet, secretary of the tournament, said that keeping in mind the safety of the players participating in the tournament, insurance for one month will be provided for all the competing players.

According to him, 15, 10 and 5000 rupees and cash will be given to the first, second and third place schools respectively.

On the occasion of the opening of the competition, Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School presented a welcome dance performance, Naveen Industrial Kadar Bahadur Rita Secondary School presented cultural programs including multi-cultural programs.
