Health and Population Minister Padam Giri has said that the government has taken the policy of developing the National Academy of Medical Sciences as an umbrella institution and developing the country’s leading federal hospitals as ‘teaching institutes’. Addressing the third convocation ceremony of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Minister Giri said that the government’s policy is to improve the quality of services and encourage mutual learning between health research, production of health manpower and various disciplines.
He recalled that the National Academy of Medical Sciences played a leading role in the production of expert doctors in Nepal during 20 years and asserted that the National Academy of Medical Sciences has made a great contribution to the health sector of Nepal by producing manpower suitable for the country and the soil. He called upon the initiated students to share the knowledge they have learned with the general public. “In the current global environment of evidence-based medical practice, their role is to bring the facts obtained from new discoveries and research in every field of health to use in the health services of the Nepali people,” he said, “for this, they will be guided by the belief that lifelong learning is based on the knowledge and skills learned in the university.” I believe that.’
