BNA Cup to Greenland, Valley Public and GoldenPeak


Kathmandu. Greenland, Valley Public and Goldenpeak won the title of the sixth BNA Cup Interscholastic Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. Greenland Senior Boys, Valley Public Senior Girls and Golden Peak became champions in Junior Boys.

Greenland defeated Valley Public 17-12 in the senior boys’ three by three finals held at the host Bashundhara National Academy (BNA) court in Bashundhara. Greenland’s Suresh Bisi added 9 points.

Valley Public defeated Prithvi 30-21 in the senior girls’ title match. Valley Public’s Muskaan Gurung scored 17. While becoming the champion in Junior Boys, Golden Peak defeated Angel’s Heart 24-17 in the final. Golden Peak’s Aman Gurung scored 7 points.

Praveen Gurung of Greenland in Senior Boys, Lorisha Gauchan of Valley Public in Senior Girls and Aman Gurung of Golden Peak in Junior Boys were declared ‘Most Valuable Player’. In senior boys Suresh Bisi from Greenland and Prithvi’s Dawa Lhamo Gurung in senior girls were selected as the best ‘three pointer’. Anmol Gurung of Valley Public (67 points), Muskan Gurung of Valley Public (42 points) in Senior Girls and Rupesh Paudel of Angels Heart (22 points) in Junior Boys became the highest scorers in Senior Boys.

Narayan Khawas, basketball coach of BNA, said that a total of 48 teams, 24 in the senior boys, 12 each in the senior girls and 12 in the junior boys, competed on a league-less knockout basis in the week-long competition.
