Gajindra Rai of Tribhuvan Army Club has won the half marathon held in Butwal on Saturday on the occasion of the 360th annual celebration of Nepali Army and Mahashivratri 2079. Rai won the title by covering a distance of 21 kilometers in 1 hour 6 minutes 50 seconds. Along with the title, he was awarded with 40,000 rupees in cash, a medal, and a certificate.
In the competition, Sushil Kumar Shahi of Army completed the distance in 1 hour 7 minutes 46 seconds and was awarded with cash of 25 thousand rupees, medal and certificate. Army’s Jitendra Danuwar crossed the distance in 1 hour, 19 minutes and 57 seconds and was awarded with cash of 15,000 rupees, medal and certificate.
Khagendra Ranabhat of Tribhuvan Army Club has won the title of open half marathon men and 10 km (women/men) race competition organized by Madhya Paschim Pritna and Shree No. 22 Bahini Adda.
APF’s Sanjit Nepali finished second in 34 minutes 47.57 seconds. Ramesh Sijapati of Mahavir Gana finished third in 36 minutes 42.15 seconds. In the 10 km women’s race, Geeta Vick of Tribhuvan Army Club finished first in 40 minutes and 15.05 seconds. Army’s Nirmala KC finished second in 41 minutes 15.20 seconds. In this way Dhanmaya Bohra of Mahendra Dal Gana achieved the third position by crossing the distance in 43 minutes 46.15 seconds. The first, second and third players of the competition were awarded with medals and certificates along with cash 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively.
Vice President Yam Prasad Dhakal of Central West Pritna Head Quarter, Khelraj Pandey, Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rathi Navraj Gurung, Assistant Vice President of Sri No. 22 Bahini Adda distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up players. Coordinator Naresh Aryal said that more than 400 players participated in the program.
