The amount of penalty set by the Election Commission is negligible


Kathmandu.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has waived the amount of fine imposed by the Election Commission on the candidates of the local level member elections held on 30th Baisakh.

According to the statement released today by Leelakant Paudel, Assistant Spokesperson of the President’s Office, he waived the amount of the fine in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal on the recommendation of the meeting of the Council of Ministers on February 4th.

Similarly, on the basis of the recommendation of the Council of Ministers meeting on February 4, 2079, the pending prison sentences of three hundred and eighty-one prisoners, including Bishnu Kumar Limbu, will be implemented on the basis of the recommendations of President Bhandari at the meeting of the Council of Ministers on February 4. According to section 12 of the Citizens Act, 2063, on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2079, amnesty has been granted.

Based on the recommendation of President Bhandari at the meeting on February 4th, 14 people including Pushkar Gautam have been pardoned in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal and Article 159 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 2074 on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2079, according to the office of the President.
