Nepal Police’s Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ashok Singh’s resignation from his post has been accepted today.
Home Secretary Vinod Prakash Singh informed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’, who also held the charge of Home Minister, accepted his resignation. With the acceptance of the resignation, the Ministry of Home Affairs has already sent the letter of acceptance to the police headquarters.
Singh submitted his resignation to the Personnel Administration Branch of the Police Headquarters on Wednesday. Before resigning, Singh was working as the Chief of the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office.
He resigned from the post after the date of birth difference became public. A complaint has also been filed with the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission for investigation on the matter.
The Nepal Police was also conducting an internal investigation about his date of birth. According to the police head office, he mentioned family reasons in his resignation letter.
