Kathmandu.
Discussions are going on between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Chairman of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba. A discussion was held between the Prime Minister and Congress leaders at Baluwatar, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
Congress Chairman Deuba, Deputy Chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka, Chief Minister Gagan Thapa, senior leader Ramchandra Paidel, leader Krishna Sitaila are said to be participating in the discussion.
According to Baluwatar sources, it is understood that decisive discussions are taking place between Deuba and Prachanda regarding the presidential election and revival of the old alliance.
There is a program for the registration of candidacy on February 13 for the presidential election to be held on the 25th. While claiming that UML should get the power partner for the president, the Maoist center is insisting that the president should be elected by national consensus.
This has created a rift in the ruling coalition. In this situation, the discussion between the Congress and the Maoists is seen as meaningful in the political arena.
