10th President’s Running Shield competition begins in Rasuwa

sleep The 10th district level President’s Running Shield competition has started at Kalikasthan in Rasuwa. After 23 years, the Running Shield is about to be removed from the headquarters.

It is being organized every year to increase the interest of children studying in school towards sports. After Kalika rural municipality took readiness to conduct the competition, it is going to be held outside the district headquarters after almost 2 and a half decades.

District Sports Development Committee Chairman Sujan Neupane said that the Kalika rural municipality has taken the responsibility of organizing the competition and is preparing to hold the competition in Kalikasthanama while the funds received from the federal government and the state government are difficult to cover the expenses for the competition.

Chairman of Kalika Rural Municipality Harikrinna Devkota informed that the preparations for the district level competition have been completed. Village Chairman Devkota said that all 5 levels of municipalities have formed thematic committees to arrange transportation and accommodation for the coaches, referees and guests who will be working in the 10th President’s Running Shield competition at the district level.

As all efforts have been made to make the competition organized, village municipality vice president Mira Lama has asked the stakeholders not to worry about any inconvenience.

Ramesh Shrestha, Office Secretary of District Sports Development Committee informed that volleyball, athletic 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 meters, relay race, high jump, long jump, short foot, jabbling throw games will be played in the competition which will be held from February 10th to 13th.

District Sports Development Committee Office Rasuwa has informed that the event will be inaugurated by Bagmati State Assembly member Indra Gautam, while the closing ceremony will be done by Federal Member of Parliament Engineer Mohan Acharya.
